LEEDS: This year's SkillPIPE 2010 named saw Ross Fraser, employed by NG Bailey and trained by Bailey Engineering Academy, as the overall winner.
Organised by SummitSkills, the Sector Skills Council for building services engineering, Skill M&E aims to find the UK's most talented employees in the sector.
Having already made it through the competition heats, entrants had to install and test a large pipe header system including pumps, valves and controls to test their skills to the limit at Leeds College of Building.
Peter Saxby, key account director at BSS Industrial, said: "We were keen to continue our support of SkillPIPE as an innovative competition that rewards those who are already achieving excellence, while promoting the need to continue improving standards nationwide.
Held annually, Skill M&E brings valuable benefits to students, colleges and employers. Competitors gain recognition for exceptional skills, injecting dynamism and excitement into training, while employers enhance their business reputation and improve the skills of their workforce.
BSS Industrial celebrated its second year of sponsoring the industry skills competition by donating pipes, valves and BOSS consumables, in addition to prizes for the semi and final rounds of SkillPIPE 2010.
