SURREY: Tradespeople operating in the Sutton area should be especially vigilant after a spate of tools thefts from vans in car parks at builders' merchants, DIY stores and supermarkets.
Thefts at car parks account for a quarter of vehicle theft crime, said Sutton police crime analyst Amanda Collins. Sutton police urged tradesmen to take additional steps to protect tools in their vans and estate cars during the day and when vehicles were parked overnight.
Police are running a number of operations in the borough to catch thieves who steal from vehicles.
