CAMBRIDGE: Phillip George has been appointed the new non-executive chairman of independent East Anglian builders’ merchant Kent Blaxill.
Mr George, 59, who was previously a managing partner at Birkett Long solicitors, succeeds Simon Fanshawe and will be Kent Blaxill’s second non-family chairman.
Kent Blaxill, which employs 219 people at its nine building, decorating and glass centres around the region, last year had sales of £27.5m.
Managing director Simon Blaxill said: “Phillip, with his extensive business experience and commercial legal skills, is the ideal person to take Kent Blaxill forward in the next decade. We were looking for someone who could provide a balance between family and business interests.”
Mr George is currently also a non-executive director of Essex Cares, and holds senior positions in a number of charitable and sporting organisations.
