CONGLETON: How do you weigh a giant pumpkin? You take it to your local builders' merchants. That's what five-year-old James Nelson did.
CONGLETON: How do you weigh a giant pumpkin? You take it to your local builders' merchants. That's what five-year-old James Nelson did.
The giant fruit was so big it was transported by trailer to Jewsons in Congleton where staff used a loading shovel to verify the pumpkin's weight at 172kg.
"They took it very seriously," said Jame's mother, Beverley Nelson. She and her family have been growing pumpkins for Halloween for several years. "It's kind of become a bit of a family tradition," said Beverley Nelson. But this year the family planted seeds for the big pumpkins near their manure heap.
