UK: House prices fell for the first three months of 2011: the fourth successive quarter of decline.The Halifax house price index yesterday showed values had fallen on average by 2.9% in the three months to the end of March.
That was a decline of 0.6% over the pervious quarter. Halifax's housing economist, Martin Ellis, said: "Our forecast remains for a 2% decrease in house prices in 2011 as a whole. Howard Archer, an economist at IHS Global Insight, predicts a 5% fall in 2011.
