DORSET: Hanson UK has retained Dorset County Council's Strategic Partnership contract to assist in the delivery of its highway maintenance programme for the next five years, with the option of a further five years.
The contract, which was initially secured in 2002, involves around 50 000-tonnes of asphalt a year and commits both parties to combine their resources and expertise to provide materials and services for Dorset's highway maintenance programme.
Over the next two years an extensive infrastructure improvement programme will be completed in Weymouth in advance of the 2012 Olympic Sailing Event, together with a £26 million upgrading of the A338 Bournemouth Spur Road.
Denis Curran, major projects director for contracting division said: "This is great news and demonstrates the success of the relationship we have built with the County Council's in house team, Dorset Works Organisation, over the last seven years."
