LONDON: Small businesses need government support in the event of a swine flu pandemic.
The Federation of Small Businesses called on government to simplify the system for reimbursing statutory sick pay as well other measures to help small businesses survivie the crisis.
John Wright, national chairman, Federation of Small Businesses said: "Swine flu is expected to have a serious impact on the UK…and we know that small firms... will be very badly hit."
In a letter to the Secretary of State for Health, Andy Burnham, the FSB requested a meeting to discuss the threat of the pandemic to small companies. The FSB proposals include putting a stop to unnecessary routine business inspections in high intensity infection areas during the height of the pandemic.
