HEREFORD: In a bid to regenerate the city, Herefordshire Council today hope to give the go-ahead for a 20-year retail development project, starting in 2011.

The agreement between the council, ESG Herefordshire and developers Stanhope, is geared towards the economic and social growth of the area. The first phase will include a multi-screen cinema, restaurants, brand shops, car parking and pedestrianised streets with connections to the city’s High Town and Maylord Centre.

The 100-acre retail development will create 1500 new jobs and will need 600 workers to build it.
