COVENTRY: A 15-strong team, including the managing director of Gibbs and Dandy, rose to the challenge of running a Barnardo's shop to generate as much cash as possible for the charity in a day.
They attracted more than 300 people to the store with the aim of raising more than the store's average daily takings and smashed their target by £2000 that will go directly towards helping children.
Lord Mayor, Keiran Mulhall made a special appearance to encourage sales and Coventry Blaze mascot, Scorch, also came along to lend a hand.
Volunteers from Barnardo's also collected cash from staff working at the builders' merchant's head office, in Binley Business Park.
