LEICESTER: Frank Elkins, the managing director of BSS Industrial and Gavin Slark, the chief executive officer of the BSS Group plc have led a determined team on an arduous 180 mile bike ride from London to Paris, raising over £17 000 in aid of Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
The team of eight set off on 3 September from BSS Industrial in Chessington, arriving in the centre of Paris just three days later after suffering punctures, a delayed ferry and many aching limbs. BSS Industrial teamed up with Rainbow Trust in 2008 to support its work helping families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Through hundreds of different activities, the pipeline and heating supplier has raised over £29 000 in 2009.
Mr Elkins, said: “Our team was made up of bike riders of all abilities so this challenge was by no means a walk in the park! It was tough to keep motivated and to get going each day but Rainbow Trust is such a worthy cause; we knew we had to make it to the finish line. Our fundraising total currently stands at £17 000, which will make a big difference to the Rainbow Trust families who face bigger challenges on a daily basis.”
